Vocals: The first thing noticeable about Jason Kafoa’s performance is that his incredible voice is untouched by the decades of use. He could sing the alphabet and make it soulful, that rich raspy voice just oozes soul. Jason’s ability to hit the roof at will with a note is undiminished and his stagecraft has undoubtedly been honed by his years performing. His capacity to interpret and understand the songs in ways that go well beyond mere homage is clear from the first moments of the set. The other thing noticeable about his performance is his incredible willingness to work for his audience. He and his band leave nothing in the tank.
Drummer Rex Carter began playing when he was just thirteen years old and debuted as a professional musician in a band called WAVES in New Zealand. Rex has performed with a wide range of famous names, including Jeff St John and Rory O’Donoghue, The Round Mountain Girls (RMG), and has recorded 2 albums and 1 EP with RMG; ‘One Step Closer’, ‘Getting There Is Only Half Way Back’ and ‘Cover Girls’. He has also recorded Albums with: Col Meredith (Rooftop Therapy), Devils Kiosk (Stolen), and Out Of Range (Bang). Rex is currently playing with Soul’d, Jason Kafoa and The Black Pearl Band, Out of Range and others.
